Astrology

As a form of divination dating back to Babylonian times, astronomer priests would search the skies for omens and live their lives according to the stars. Since then astrology has evolved a great deal over the centuries yet the basic principles used by our ancient forefathers, are still in use today.

During its annual passage along the ecliptic, the Sun appears to move through the twelve constellations of the zodiac as observed here on Earth. These twelve constellations formed a backdrop in the sky and with the regular and constant motion of the planets, it became possible for mankind to understand the cycles of nature.

The ancient Greeks called this the zodiac meaning "circle of creatures" and over time, the twelve signs began to take on a life of their own. Particular characteristics were applied to the constellations based on the associations of the shape or creature it appeared to make in the sky as well as the quality of the season it was in. This stellar influence inspired both mythology and folklore of far-flung early civilizations around the world and whether we realise it or not, it continues to influence much of our lives to this day.

As above, so below

Astrology as we know it, is based on the belief that the motions of planets through the twelve signs of the zodiac and the connections they make to other planets can create influences which can be felt here on earth. With the art of interpretation, predictable outcomes can be noted and the energy of that period of time can begin to be understood.

When a person is born, the planetary positions of that exact moment in time create a unique personal horoscope known as the natal chart. As no two people are born at the exact same time and same place each chart is as distinct as one's own signature or voice. Through the interpretation of the planetary positions, the personality and life potential of the individual will show, indicating where opportunities and challenges lie. As well as offering an insight into personality, astrology can show how we will be affected by future trends, the potential of the relationship between two people and countless other areas of life.

Commonly, many people are only aware of their Sun Signs, which is only the tip of the astrological iceberg. As the Sun reveals the core of personality based on the archetype of the sign it falls under, it tells a story of the basic journey or path in life. When other factors of a person's natal chart are looked at such as the Ascendant position and Moon position, a deeper sense of identity begins to unfold.
